If you are interested in getting into flamenco music with the bass, please do not hesitate to contact me! Rhythm, harmony and melody of the main “palos” (flamenco “substyles”) in which the bass may more frequently be used (rumba, tangos, bulerías, alegrías, tanguillos..) will be studied. We will see comping patterns, how to play on guitar falsetas, typical harmonies and melodies for the vocal parts, etc… More palos (in which a bass is not very often present) will be also reviewed and studied (fandangos de Huelva, soleares, farrucas, tientos, seguiriya…) as well as how to use other bass techniques, beside fingerpicking, in flamenco, like slap, double thumb, three and four fingers techniques, percussive techniques, chords, tremolo, tapping…
Even though I tend to use 6 string basses for flamenco, this is just for personal tastes and preferences. A regular 4 string bass, or a 5 string with whatever tuning, is a perfect tool for flamenco, too.
